Abstract: It has been claimed that the first digit of real signals follows a logarithmic distribution, called Benford law. This paper shows that this distribution is a natural prior for the gradient of several types of medical images (MRI, CT, ultrasound) and proposes a reconstruction algorithm based on the Benford law which does not require any parameter tuning. Experimental results are presented to illustrate the performance of the reconstruction algorithm.
