Abstract: Lightning data in Switzerland obtained using the European Cooperation for Lightning Detection (EUCLID) network are used to investigate the applicability of the Benford's law to lightning data. The considered data set consists of the peak current estimates and interstroke intervals. It is shown that the obtained distributions are in good agreement with Benford's law.
