Abstract: Resistance to acceptance and rejection are defined for a test of hypotheses in a one-sample setting. These numbers are calculatet for several standard tests and their meaning is discussed. Resistances are proposed as adjuncts to significance level tests, especially in large samples. This usage is emphasized in the case if the χ2 goodness-of-fit test and then illustrated on a large data set concerned with the initial digit phenomenon
